Nissan Sunny Maintains Lead as Egypt’s Most Licensed Car Model in May 2026

Nissan Sunny continued to dominate Egypt’s vehicle licensing charts in May 2026, maintaining a significant lead over its closest rivals and reinforcing its position among the country’s most popular budget-friendly passenger cars.

The model recorded 1,917 units out of Nissan’s total passenger-car registrations during the month, highlighting its strong presence in the Egyptian market. Its continued success is supported by competitive pricing, low operating costs, and the availability of after-sales services and spare parts.

Hyundai Elantra ranked among the top licensed models with 494 registered vehicles, maintaining a strong foothold in the midsize sedan segment. Chery Arrizo 5 followed with 387 units, benefiting from growing demand for affordable Chinese vehicles.

In the SUV segment, MG ZS emerged as one of the market’s most licensed models with 355 vehicles, further strengthening its position as demand for compact SUVs continues to rise.

Meanwhile, Jetour X70 recorded 313 registered vehicles, reflecting the continued growth of the Chinese brand in the Egyptian market, particularly within the family-oriented multi-purpose vehicle category.

The performance of the top-licensed models indicates that affordable and mid-priced vehicles remain the primary choice for buyers, as consumers increasingly focus on lower purchase, operating, and maintenance costs.

The figures also highlight the growing presence of Chinese brands among the market’s best-performing models through Chery, MG, and Jetour, while Japanese and Korean manufacturers continue to maintain strong positions led by Nissan and Hyundai.

At the brand level, Nissan retained its position as the market leader for the third consecutive month with a total of 2,429 registered vehicles, followed by Chevrolet, Chery, Jetour, and Hyundai.

The report also noted a 10.7% decline in the overall absorption of the new vehicle market in May compared with the previous month. A total of 56,141 new vehicles were insured and licensed during the period, including 20,908 passenger cars.
