Nissan Sentra Bids Farewell to Egypt: Last Announced Price and Locally Assembled Specs
Nissan Africa has confirmed it will stop local production of the Nissan Sentra in Egypt by the end of the year, with a new replacement model planned. The Sentra runs a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine making 118 hp and 154 Nm, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. It measures 4.61 meters long with a 510-liter trunk, and safety kit includes ABS, EBD, BA, and two airbags. The decision opens the door for a new model whose details have not yet been announced.
Nissan Africa CEO Mohamed Abdel Samad confirmed that Nissan will halt local production of the Nissan Sentra in Egypt by the end of this year, with a new model planned to replace it in the Egyptian market.
End of the Road for Sentra in Egypt
The Sentra has been one of the most prominent locally assembled sedans at Nissan's Egyptian plants for years, building strong sales and a solid presence in the mid-size economy sedan segment. That chapter is closing.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood, the Nissan Sentra packs a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 118 horsepower and 154 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Power goes to the front wheels through a CVT automatic gearbox. Reasonable numbers for the economy class.
Dimensions and Cargo Space
The car measures 4.61 meters long, with a 2.70-meter wheelbase, 1.76 meters wide, and 1.49 meters tall. The trunk swallows 510 liters — a solid figure for a small family. These dimensions made it a practical pick for buyers chasing competitive Nissan pricing.
Safety Equipment
The Sentra comes with ABS, electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), and brake assist (BA). Only two airbags are fitted — one for the driver and one for the front passenger. Acceptable kit, but no longer class-leading.
What the Production Halt Means for Buyers
With production ending, attention shifts to remaining dealer stock and the Nissan used-car market. The replacement model will shape the Japanese brand's direction in Egypt going forward. Until then, the Nissan Sentra remains an option in the economy sedan space, though some buyers may choose to wait.
