Nissan Magnite Crossover Officially Launched from Egypt Plant
Nissan Egypt, the exclusive distributor of the Japanese brand in the local market, has celebrated the rollout of the first Nissan Magnite crossover from its production lines at the company's plant in 6th of October City. This marks the first time this model has ever been produced in Africa, positioning Egypt as the first country to locally manufacture the Magnite.
High-Level Attendance at the Launch Ceremony
The launch event was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, along with several ministers, officials, and global Nissan leaders. Both sides discussed the company's expansion plans in the Egyptian market and the future of the local automotive industry, as well as opportunities to increase production and exports in the coming period.
Major Investments to Equip the Production Line
Engineer Mohamed Abdel Samad, Managing Director of Nissan Africa, confirmed that local production of the Nissan Magnite represents a significant step in the company's strategy to expand in the Egyptian market. He noted that work on equipping and installing the new production line began in Q1 2025, with trial production starting in Q1 2026, leading to the start of commercial production today.
Abdel Samad added that the company has injected new investments worth approximately $45 million (EGP 2.346 billion) to upgrade assembly lines, increasing the plant's annual production capacity to 50,000 vehicles. He also stated that the local content ratio in the Nissan Magnite exceeds 55%.
Plant Achievements and Expansion Plans
Nissan's Egypt plant, which spans an area of 104,000 square meters, successfully produced around 30,000 vehicles last year. The company has also exported more than 25,000 vehicles in recent years, while providing over 1,000 direct jobs and approximately 5,000 indirect jobs, reinforcing Egypt's position as a strategic manufacturing and export hub in the region.
