Nissan Continues to Dominate Egypt's Auto Market in May 2026

Nissan has maintained its leadership in the Egyptian vehicle market for the third consecutive month, according to the latest monthly report from the Egyptian Auto Insurance Pool. The report reveals the ranking of the most registered car brands during May 2026, amid a general slowdown in market absorption.

Nissan Tops the List with 2,429 Vehicles

The report showed that Nissan ranked first in total registered vehicles during May, with 2,429 units. This was driven by the strong performance of its passenger cars, led by the Sunny model, which continues to strengthen its presence in the local market.

Chevrolet, Chery, and Jetour Follow

Chevrolet came in second place with 2,384 vehicles, supported by strong demand for the American brand's commercial vehicles. Chery ranked third with 1,527 vehicles, as Chinese brands continue to expand their footprint in the Egyptian market. Jetour secured fourth place with 1,503 vehicles, followed by Hyundai in fifth with 1,194 units, and MG in sixth with 1,122 vehicles.

Strong Asian Presence in the Rankings

The list also highlighted the continued strong presence of Asian brands. Toyota ranked seventh with 997 vehicles, Swasty came eighth with 938 units, Kia ninth with 836 vehicles, and Changan rounded out the top ten with 834 cars.

Passenger Car Segment: Nissan Still Leads

In the passenger car segment alone, Nissan maintained its top spot with 2,383 vehicles. The Sunny model alone accounted for 1,917 of the company's total registrations, reflecting sustained demand for the economy car that remains the most widespread in the local market. Chery ranked second in the passenger car segment, driven by the Arrizo 5 which recorded 387 units. Jetour took third place thanks to the strong performance of the X70 model, followed by Hyundai, where the Elantra accounted for the majority of its sales with 494 units. MG continued to strengthen its presence in the passenger car market with the ZS model, which recorded 355 units. Brands such as Kia, Toyota, Skoda, Volkswagen, Geely, and Renault also maintained their positions among the highest-registered brands during the month.

Commercial Vehicle Segment: Near-Total Dominance by Chevrolet

In the commercial vehicle segment, Chevrolet asserted near-total dominance, registering 1,582 commercial vehicles, far ahead of its closest competitors. It was followed by Toyota, then Mitsubishi, Suzuki, and Nissan. The brand rankings for May reflect the ongoing gradual shift in the Egyptian market landscape, with the growing presence of Chinese brands.
