New Cairo Leads New Vehicle Registrations While Salloum and Safaga Drive Customs Growth in June
New Cairo Traffic Unit maintained its position as the leading traffic office for new vehicle registrations during June, according to the latest report issued by the Egyptian Compulsory Motor Insurance Pool. The figures highlight continued momentum in the zero-kilometer vehicle market, with New Cairo recording the highest number of newly licensed vehicles during the reporting period, reflecting sustained demand for new vehicle registration in densely populated and economically active areas.
Top Traffic Units by New Vehicle Registrations
New Cairo recorded a total of 2,201 newly registered vehicles to remain in first place. Nasr City ranked second with 1,664 vehicles, followed by Abis with 1,554 vehicles, Faisal with 1,480 vehicles, and Hawamdia with 1,422 vehicles. These figures demonstrate the continued concentration of new vehicle licensing activity across Greater Cairo alongside several governorates experiencing notable activity in the automotive market.
Customs Ports Record Strong Activity
Customs registration figures also showed significant activity during June. Salloum Port recorded the highest total with 16,972 vehicles, followed by Safaga with 2,348 vehicles and Nuweiba with 2,061 vehicles. The results indicate continued strength in customs vehicle registrations and highlight the important role of these ports in processing incoming vehicles during the month.
Overall Market Indicators
The report stated that a total of 383,655 used vehicles were licensed during June, compared with 70,497 new zero-kilometer vehicles, in addition to 23,716 customs vehicles. These numbers confirm that the used vehicle market continued to account for the largest share of registrations while the new vehicle market showed clear improvement. The report also indicated that customs vehicle registrations increased compared with May, when 18,398 customs vehicles were recorded, reflecting stronger registration activity during June.
