Motorcycles Dominate 57% of Vehicle Registrations in Egypt as Commercial Vehicles Surge
Recent data reveals that motorcycles continue to dominate Egypt's vehicle registration market, capturing approximately 57% of all registrations during the first five months of 2026. This figure underscores the growing preference for motorcycles as a primary mode of transportation amid current economic and traffic conditions.
Vehicle Registration Breakdown
According to sales and marketing expert Gamal Fahim, private passenger cars ranked second with nearly 39% of total registrations, while commercial vehicles accounted for only about 5%. These numbers reflect the current distribution of consumer preferences in the Egyptian vehicle market.
Monthly Decline in Motorcycles and Passenger Cars
Fahim noted that motorcycle registrations dropped by 13% in May compared to April, while passenger car registrations declined by 9% during the same period. These monthly decreases may indicate seasonal shifts or fluctuations in demand.
Strong Growth for Commercial Vehicles
In contrast, commercial vehicles posted exceptional performance, with registrations nearly doubling compared to the previous month. This robust growth points to a notable revival in Egypt's commercial transport and logistics sector.
