Minister of Transport Inspects Railway and Bus Stations in Matrouh to Enhance Mobility and Support Tourism

In line with the comprehensive strategic plan adopted by the state to develop the transportation system and enhance infrastructure efficiency, the Minister of Transport, Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, conducted an extensive field tour in Matrouh Governorate to monitor the readiness of public transport facilities. This significant step is part of continuous efforts aimed at improving the passenger mobility experience, supporting the booming tourism sector, and promoting urban and economic development in the governorate. It reflects the official commitment to providing sustainable transport solutions that meet the aspirations of both citizens and visitors, keeping pace with the steady increase in the number of people frequenting the region.

Comprehensive Inspection of Marsa Matrouh Railway Station and Operational Standards

The field tour included a precise and pivotal inspection of the Marsa Matrouh railway station, attended by Major General Khaled Shoaib, Governor of Matrouh, Engineer Wajdy Radwan, Deputy Minister of Transport for Electric Railways and Railway Transport, and Engineer Mohamed Amer, Chairman of the National Railways Authority of Egypt, alongside several prominent executive leaders from the Ministry of Transport and Matrouh Governorate. During this tour, the Minister inspected the station platforms, passenger waiting halls, ticket windows, and station entrances and exits. He also closely monitored the regularity of train movements and the level of logistical services provided to travelers, directing the necessary measures to elevate cleanliness and administrative discipline rates, and to fully adhere to the highest safety and security standards, ensuring the delivery of a more efficient and high-quality transport service.

The Minister of Transport emphasized that the development of railways in Egypt is not limited to the renovation and upgrading of stations alone. It extends to include the development of operating lines, the modernization of rolling stock, and the implementation of advanced signaling systems. This approach is part of an ambitious plan aimed at creating a more efficient and reliable railway transport network, capable of accommodating the growing passenger traffic and enhancing effective connectivity between various governorates. The National Railways Authority of Egypt is actively working to implement these directives through regular maintenance programs and continuous infrastructure upgrades, ensuring uninterrupted service at a high level of efficiency.

Supporting Tourism and Enhancing Connectivity with Western Matrouh Border Cities

The Minister highlighted the strategic importance of Matrouh Governorate, which represents one of the most promising tourism and investment destinations in the country. Developing the transportation system there directly contributes to facilitating the movement of citizens and visitors, enhancing the governorate's attractiveness to local and foreign investments, and significantly supporting domestic tourism, especially during the summer seasons. During these peak periods, population density and traffic movement increase exceptionally, requiring a robust and flexible infrastructure capable of absorbing this surge effectively.

The field tour also included a visit to the bus station of the West and Middle Delta Transport and Tourism Company. The Minister monitored the regularity of bus movements and the level of services provided to passengers, emphasizing the utmost importance of maintaining service quality within the station premises and adhering to the highest operational and periodic maintenance standards. The West and Middle Delta Transport and Tourism Company plays a pivotal role in connecting these remote areas with major urban centers, facilitating daily mobility for workers, students, and tourists alike.

Furthermore, the Minister of Transport stressed the continued support for the public transport system in the cities of Western Matrouh. This includes enhancing the operation of West and Middle Delta and Super Jet bus lines to the cities of El-Nagila, Sidi Barani, and Salloum, according to regular and precise schedules. This strategic directive aims to provide easier and more reliable means of mobility for citizens, effectively serving the residents of these areas and integrating coastal and border cities into the national transport network in a comprehensive manner. This field tour is an integral part of the Ministry of Transport's comprehensive strategy to develop all public transport means, supporting economic development, enhancing infrastructure efficiency, and ensuring smooth and safe mobility between governorates.
