A seismic shift just hit Egypt's passenger car market. For the first time ever, MG has claimed the top spot in the country's vehicle registration rankings, overtaking the established Asian and European giants that have long dominated the segment.

Breaking Down the Numbers

MG registered a total of 1,889 vehicles during the month, with the ZS model leading its lineup at 632 units. Chery secured second place with 1,646 registrations, driven by the Arrizo 5, which accounted for 346 units.

Third spot went to Hyundai with 1,572 cars, led by the Elantra at 588 units. Nissan took fourth place with 1,499 registrations, with the Sunny dominating at 1,213 units. Jetour followed in fifth with 1,458 cars, including 272 units of the T2 model.

The Rest of the Top Ten

Sixth place belonged to Soueast with 1,209 vehicles, followed by Kia in seventh at 1,040. Toyota ranked eighth with 915 cars, while Mercedes came ninth with 671 units. Chevrolet rounded out the top ten at 661 vehicles.

The full ranking shows more surprises. Skoda landed eleventh with 651 cars, followed by Geely in twelfth at 649. Changan took thirteenth with 627 units, Volkswagen fourteenth at 623, and Mitsubishi fifteenth with 579 units.

These figures mark a clear shift in consumer preference. While Chinese brands continue their aggressive expansion in Egypt, MG's sudden leap to the top raises questions about the competitive landscape and how legacy players will respond moving forward.
