Maryutiya Tragedy: Egyptian Insurance Pool Moves to Compensate Victims of Submerged Car
The Egyptian Compulsory Motor Insurance Pool has revealed details of its urgent response following the tragic accident in Giza Governorate this morning, when a passenger car overturned and fell into the Maryutiya Canal on the Maryutiya - Badrashin road, resulting in the deaths of seven people from a single family.
Accident Details
In an official statement, the Pool confirmed that it had been closely monitoring the developments of the unfortunate incident from the very first moments. The initial inspection revealed that the passenger car was traveling on the Maryutiya – Badrashin road towards the Saqqara area, within the Badrashin Center district of Giza Governorate, before the driver lost control of the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to suddenly veer off the road and overturn into the Maryutiya Canal.
Casualties
The Pool explained that the accident resulted in the deaths of all seven occupants of the car, all from one family, marking one of the most heartbreaking incidents on this road in recent times, amid a wave of grief among locals and social media users.
Insurance Procedures and Compensation
The Egyptian Compulsory Motor Insurance Pool confirmed that it has already begun taking necessary steps to obtain all information regarding the insurance coverage of the vehicle involved in the accident, after verifying that the compulsory insurance policy for the car was valid with the Pool.
It added that the process of disbursing legal compensation to the beneficiaries will commence immediately upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations, receipt of official accident documents, and completion of the legal registration and description by the Public Prosecution, which is currently investigating to fully determine the circumstances of the incident.
Executive Director's Directives
In this context, Ibrahim Labib, the Executive Director of the Egyptian Compulsory Motor Insurance Pool, instructed Pool officials at the headquarters and all branches nationwide to directly monitor the developments of the accident, coordinate fully with the victims' families, and work to facilitate all necessary procedures to ensure prompt delivery of compensation to the beneficiaries in the easiest possible manner.
Condolences and Sympathy
Ibrahim Labib extended his deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, praying for mercy upon the deceased and patience for their loved ones, emphasizing that the Pool approaches such incidents with a humanitarian perspective alongside its legal and insurance role.
