King Long Captures Half of Egypt's Minibus Market

Chinese brand King Long has stormed to the top of Egypt's minibus sales charts during the first four months of 2026, capturing a commanding 50% market share. According to the latest report from the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC), King Long sold 1,454 units between January and April, solidifying its dominance in the country's collective transport vehicle segment. The strong performance underscores the brand's growing appeal among fleet operators and private transport businesses alike.

Golden Dragon secured second place with a 30% market share and total sales of 881 vehicles, maintaining its position as a key competitor. Toyota came in third with a 10% share, selling 307 units during the same period. While Toyota's numbers are significantly lower than the leaders, the brand still commands respect in the market thanks to its reputation for durability and extensive service network, which remains a critical factor for commercial vehicle buyers in Egypt.

Foton Rounds Out the Top Four

Fourth place went to Foton, another Chinese manufacturer, which captured a 10% market share with 281 units sold. The brand's presence in the top four highlights the increasing competition among Chinese automakers in Egypt's minibus segment, where price and after-sales support are key differentiators. The data reveals a clear consumer preference for value-oriented options, with Chinese brands now accounting for the majority of sales in this category.

The strong showing by King Long reflects its ability to deliver vehicles that meet the operational demands of Egyptian minibus operators, balancing durability with cost efficiency. Meanwhile, Toyota continues to leverage its established brand equity, though it faces mounting pressure from aggressive Chinese competitors. As Egypt's urban transport needs grow, the battle for minibus market share is likely to intensify, with more brands entering the fray and existing players ramping up their offerings.
