King Long Dominates with 29% Market Share
King Long has topped bus sales across all categories in Egypt during the first four months of this year, capturing a 29% market share with 697 vehicles sold, according to the latest report from the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC). The Chinese brand's strong performance underscores its growing presence in the Egyptian commercial vehicle segment, where demand for buses and minibuses remains robust amid ongoing urban mobility needs.
Golden Dragon and Toyota Round Out the Top Three
Golden Dragon secured the second position with a 17.6% market share, selling 427 units, followed by Toyota in third place with a 15.4% share and 385 vehicles. The competitive landscape shows a clear hierarchy, with these three brands collectively accounting for more than 60% of total bus sales in the period. Shineray ranked fourth with an 8.3% share (193 buses), while Chevrolet took fifth place at 7.1% (170 units). Mitsubishi followed closely with a 6.6% share and 167 units sold.
Mid-Table and Lower Ranks: Foton, Suzuki, and Mercedes
Foton placed seventh with a 6.3% market share, selling approximately 109 vehicles, while Suzuki came eighth at 5% with 69 units. Mercedes MCV ranked tenth with a 3.4% share (60 vehicles), and Foton EIM finished eleventh at 0.7% with 23 units. The data highlights a fragmented market where established global brands compete alongside Chinese and Japanese manufacturers, offering Egyptian fleet operators a wide range of choices from budget-friendly models to premium coaches.
