The Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club has issued a crucial warning to citizens against dealing with unauthorized entities claiming to issue international driving licenses. The club emphasized that obtaining such licenses from unofficial sources may expose holders to problems while traveling or driving abroad, due to the lack of international recognition.

The Official Authority for Issuing International Driving Licenses

The Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club clarified that it is the official body authorized to issue international driving licenses in Egypt. This authority stems from a mandate granted by the International Automobile and Tourism Federation, in accordance with international laws and agreements governing this matter. These statements come as part of the club's efforts to educate citizens and prevent fraud.

Locations for Issuing International Driving Licenses

Citizens wishing to obtain an international driving license can visit the club's main headquarters in downtown Cairo, in addition to several accredited branches. These include the Alexandria rest area, Cairo International Airport branches in Hall 3 and Air Mall, Borg El Arab Airport, Sphinx International Airport, as well as the City Stars branch in Nasr City. The club confirmed that the issuance process is straightforward after submitting the required documents, taking a short time after data verification and document validation.

Required Documents for the International License

The competent authorities have specified several required documents for obtaining an international driving license. Applicants must provide the original valid Egyptian driving license with a copy, provided it is valid for at least one year. They must also submit an original national ID card with a copy, or a valid passport with a copy, along with recent passport-sized photos (4x6 cm) on a white background. After submission, data from the Egyptian license and all documents are verified through the General Traffic Administration.

The applicant must appear in person to submit documents and fill out the required forms, with the name written in English exactly as it appears on the passport.
