A new chapter is about to open in Egypt's automotive market. Ghabbour Auto, the exclusive distributor of Hyundai in the country, is preparing to launch the Hyundai Venue as a locally assembled model for the first time, igniting the compact SUV segment that has seen rising demand from Egyptian buyers. The market is shifting fast.

Why now?

The Venue's arrival comes at a pivotal moment, with the local market witnessing a notable expansion in domestically produced models. Automakers are continuously feeding new vehicles from local production lines, driven by a national push to increase local manufacturing rates and offer cars at more competitive prices. This trend is fundamentally reshaping the sector.

The key competitors expected to challenge the Venue before its official launch in Egypt include: the Nissan Magnite, the Haval Jolion Facelift, and the Chery Tiggo 7.

Nissan Magnite: The budget pick

The Nissan Magnite is among the newest locally assembled vehicles in Egypt, powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 99 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a CVT automatic transmission driving the front wheels, offering balanced everyday performance.

The price is the real surprise. The Magnite starts at EGP 788,000 for the base trim, while the fully loaded version reaches EGP 888,000. That makes it an appealing choice for those seeking a crossover at a lower cost than direct rivals.

Haval Jolion Facelift: The rising Chinese

The Haval Jolion Facelift enters the locally assembled crossover race with three trims, starting at EGP 985,000 for the base version, EGP 1,035,000 for the mid-range, and EGP 1,135,000 for the top spec.

Performance is a different story. The car relies on a 1.5-liter turbo engine delivering 148 hp and 220 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. These credentials give it more muscle than its Japanese rival, though the higher price could be a hurdle.

Chery Tiggo 7: The experienced player

The Chery Tiggo 7 continues its presence among locally assembled crossovers, standing as one of the most prominent players in this category thanks to its long history in the Egyptian market. The Chinese brand has built a wide fanbase over the years.

Competition is now at its peak, and with the Venue's launch approaching, the market is watching how the new model will respond to the diverse choices available to Egyptian consumers, who have become more aware of specs and prices.
