Heavy Traffic on Salah Salem Axis After Two Collisions – Police Advise Alternative Routes

Most major road axes in Cairo and Giza witnessed heavy traffic congestion and slow vehicle movement this morning, especially during the morning peak hours. Traffic police services were deployed across main roads to ensure citizen safety, facilitate vehicle flow, and guide drivers toward alternative routes to reduce pressure on the most congested axes.

Two Collisions on Salah Salem Axis

The Salah Salem axis experienced two vehicle collisions simultaneously. The first accident occurred in front of the Exhibition Grounds, on the direction coming from Al-Rahman Al-Rahim Mosque toward Nozha, Sheraton, and the airport. Traffic police advised drivers coming from Salah Salem to use Al-Firdous Bridge, then Al-Sikka Al-Bayda Street to reach Al-Nasr Axis as an alternative route. The second collision took place in front of the Military Academy, on the direction coming from Joseph Tito heading to Al-Tayaran Bridge. Drivers coming from Nozha and Joseph Tito were advised to use Sheraton Residences, Abdel Hamid Badawi Street, and Heliopolis areas to avoid congestion.

Congestion in Downtown, Al-Azhar Tunnel, and Other Key Axes

Downtown Cairo and Al-Azhar Tunnel recorded significant traffic congestion, as did the Autostrad axis for drivers coming from Helwan to Maadi and Al-Qalaa, and for those coming from Maadi to 15 May and Between the Two Mountains, due to the high density of cargo trucks. Abbas Al-Akkad axis also witnessed congestion and slow vehicle movement, along with the Ring Road, 26th of July Axis, and October Bridge, which all saw high traffic volumes and vehicle accumulation.

Traffic Recommendations for Drivers in Cairo and Giza

In Cairo, traffic police recommended using the Corniche as an alternative to the Autostrad axis, and using Al-Azhar Street as an alternative to Al-Azhar Tunnel to ease pressure. Slow vehicle movement was also observed in Heliopolis, Maadi, and Al-Monib areas, while high traffic volumes were recorded in Qasr Al-Aini, downtown areas, and Al-Azhar Tunnel. On the Nile Corniche, heavy congestion was seen toward Maspero and Al-Moassasa, while traffic flow was regular on Al-Tayaran Axis.

Traffic Situation in Giza and 6th of October City

In Giza, the Agouza and Mohandessin areas experienced scattered traffic congestion due to increased vehicle movement on their main roads. Moderate congestion appeared on the pyramids and shooting range axes, while vehicle accumulation was recorded on Saft Al-Laban, Faisal, Al-Tawabeq, Giza Square, Sudan Street, and Between the Palaces axes. In 6th of October City, moderate traffic congestion was observed in most areas, except for the central axis, which witnessed high traffic density.
