Most major road axes in Cairo and Giza witnessed scattered traffic congestion this morning during the peak morning hours, with traffic services deployed to ensure citizen safety, facilitate vehicle movement, and guide drivers to alternative routes in areas experiencing slowdowns or congestion.

Traffic Situation in Cairo

Information from the Traffic Operations Room reported heavy congestion at Abbasia Square, with slow vehicle movement, along with high traffic volumes on the October Bridge in both directions. Authorities advised using the ground-level road as an alternative to relieve pressure. Vehicle speeds also slowed at the Mokattam descent towards Salah Salem and the Autostrad road, with moving congestion appearing on the Salah Salem axis, starting from Al-Azhar Park to the Ferdous Bridge, and in front of the Exhibition Grounds.

Traffic services recommended using the Sikka Bayda axis as an alternative to Salah Salem, especially given the extended congestion in several areas of Nasr City, New Cairo, Ain Shams, Ghomra, and up to Ramses, intersecting with El-Galaa Street, as well as the area extending from the Citadel to Fustat.

Congestion on Autostrad, Corniche, and Ring Road

The Autostrad road experienced slow traffic from Monib to Basateen, while traffic congestion appeared on the Nile Corniche in the Maadi area up to the Ring Road, in addition to Qasr El-Aini Street. The Ring Road recorded high traffic density towards Katameya and the Central Plateau, while the El-Marg Ring Road saw congestion for those coming from the Agricultural Road towards the Salam Tunnel, and inside the tunnel for those arriving from the provinces to Cairo.

Slowdown in Fifth Settlement and University Bridge

Intermittent traffic congestion appeared on 90th Street in the Fifth Settlement for those coming from the Ring Road towards Downtown. Abbas Bridge and University Bridge also witnessed high density towards the Masaha Square, amid continuous monitoring by traffic services deployed on major axes.

Traffic Situation in Giza

In Giza, moving traffic congestion appeared on several streets and axes, including Giza, Haram, Al-Bahr Al-Azam, and the Nile Tourist streets, in addition to the Ring Road descent towards Upper Egypt, and the Warraq and Maryouteya areas. Vehicle movement also slowed on Faisal Street, especially in the Tawabik area, with congestion extending to Sudan Street, past Cairo University to Bulaq. The areas of 6th of October City witnessed high traffic density, prompting traffic services to intensify field presence to guide drivers and alleviate congestion.
