Giza Launches Crackdown on Illegal Parking of Shared Taxis in Faisal and El-Lebiny
Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Giza, has ordered an immediate campaign to clear an illegal parking lot for shared taxis (servis) located above the Marioutiya tunnel heading toward Faisal Street. The decision came in response to citizen complaints about traffic congestion caused by vehicles waiting outside designated official parking areas.
The governor's directives were issued during a field inspection tour to monitor the regularity of public services and the general condition in several districts within the governorate. During the tour, he observed traffic violations firsthand and gave immediate instructions to address them.
Governor Al-Ansari emphasized the need for coordination between the Servis and Public Transport Authority and the General Traffic Department of Giza to urgently review and regulate traffic flow on El-Lebiny Street. The instructions include preventing wrong-way driving, obligating tuk-tuks to stay in their designated lanes without violations, and banning random parking of shared taxis along the street and its branches.
The campaign aims to achieve maximum traffic fluidity, prevent congestion, and impose penalties on violators to ensure smooth movement in this high-traffic area.
