Geely Leads Egypt's EV Registrations in July 2026
The numbers tell a clear story. Geely registered 225 new electric vehicles in July, the highest monthly figure any automaker has recorded in Egypt's booming EV market this year. Data from the Egyptian Motor Insurance Bureau. That tracks first-time registrations as a reliable sales indicator, confirms the Chinese brand's commanding lead.
Chinese Brands Dominate the Leaderboard
Competition behind the leader was remarkably tight this month. Geely pulled ahead decisively, but the battle for the remaining top spots proved far more intense than industry observers had anticipated. Rox and Dibal shared second and third place with 122 vehicles each, while Nissan secured fourth position with 114 registrations.
BYD rounded out the top five with 110 vehicles, benefiting from an aggressive expansion of its electric lineup in the Egyptian market over recent months. The margin separating second from fifth place was just 12 units. That narrow gap reflects a genuinely competitive environment, not a market with a single dominant player.
Mid-Table Battle Heats Up
The second half of the leaderboard paints an equally interesting picture. DFSK claimed sixth place with 87 registrations, followed by Forthing with 74 vehicles in seventh. Zeekr took eighth position with 69 cars, showing steady momentum for the premium-focused brand.
XPENG secured ninth place with 52 vehicles, while MG completed the top ten with 49 registrations in July 2026. These figures demonstrate that Egypt's EV market has evolved beyond a niche segment into a fiercely contested arena where multiple global players are fighting for market share. The coming months will reveal whether Geely can maintain its edge or if the chasing pack closes the gap.
