Gasoline Continues to Dominate as Electric Vehicles Rise to 2,233 Units in June

Gasoline-powered vehicles maintained their dominant position in Egypt's fuel mix during June 2026, accounting for the largest share of registered vehicles, while electric vehicles continued their gradual upward trend with another monthly increase.

Gasoline Retains the Largest Share of Vehicle Registrations

Gasoline-powered vehicles reached 336,467 units in June, compared with 285,862 units in May, reinforcing gasoline's position as the leading fuel type in the Egyptian automotive market. Diesel-powered vehicles ranked second with 108,576 units, up from 98,002 units recorded in May, highlighting the continued reliance on diesel across transportation, commercial operations, and service sectors.

Electric Vehicle Segment Continues Gradual Growth

Vehicles powered by both gasoline and natural gas totaled 11,436 units during June, while vehicles operating exclusively on natural gas reached 69 units, a figure that remained nearly unchanged from May, indicating relative stability for this segment.

Meanwhile, electric vehicles increased to 2,233 units in June, compared with 2,123 units in May. The figures confirm the sector's steady growth, although electric vehicles still represent a relatively small portion of the overall vehicle fleet compared with the continued dominance of gasoline and diesel-powered models.

The latest fuel distribution figures show that Egypt's automotive market continues to rely primarily on conventional fuels, while the electric vehicle segment is expanding at a gradual pace. This trend is supported by a broader range of available vehicles, the entry of new automotive brands into the market, and growing consumer interest in cleaner energy solutions for future mobility.
