Forthing Prepares to Produce First Electric Vehicle in Egypt by April 2027
Forthing is preparing to start local production of its first electric vehicle in Egypt by April 2027 through its local partner AVM. The Chinese brand is also studying making Egypt an export base for its cars to foreign markets. Meanwhile, authorized distributor Hegazy Motors has opened a new facility on the Shinsho Abe axis to support sales and expansion.
Forthing is gearing up to produce its first electric vehicle in Egypt by April 2027, with local partner AVM (Al Amal for Manufacturing and Assembly) leading the charge. The move is part of broader plans to expand local manufacturing and introduce new models to the Egyptian market.
Forthing Plans Local EV Production
Amr Soliman, chairman of Al Amal, said the electric vehicle production comes within a development and expansion plan in cooperation with Forthing International, which aims to assemble more models in Egypt in the coming period. The goal is clear. The company seeks to strengthen its presence in Egypt's growing electric vehicle market.
Leo Shaoping, vice president of Forthing International, revealed that a serious study is underway to make Egypt an export base for the brand's cars to foreign markets. He added that the company is considering assembling new models in Egypt with its local agent, confirming technical support and the provision of production components and spare parts, along with training technicians and transferring expertise to support manufacturing plans. This step reflects the Chinese company's confidence in Egyptian industrial capabilities.
Hegazy Motors Opens New Facility
In parallel with Forthing's moves in the Egyptian market, Hegazy Motors, the brand's authorized distributor, opened its latest facility on the Shinsho Abe axis, attended by a delegation from the Chinese company and Al Amal. The expansion reflects a long-term strategy. Yasser Hegazy, chairman of Hegazy Motors, said the company aims to inject new investments and implement expansions including opening additional branches and facilities and increasing sales for the various car brands it distributes.
The move comes as Egypt accelerates its shift toward electric vehicles, with new Chinese brands entering and local agents expanding their electric offerings at competitive prices. Forthing wants to secure its position early. The new facility on the Shinsho Abe axis strengthens the distribution and service network, supporting sales growth plans and providing suitable infrastructure to receive upcoming electric models.
