Ahmed Kojak, Egypt's Minister of Finance, confirmed that the state has paid EGP 70 billion to exporters over the past six years under the export burden relief program. This announcement comes amid significant shifts in the Egyptian economy, where the government aims to strengthen the export sector as a key driver for sustainable economic growth.

Accelerated Payment Schedule

The minister explained that the government successfully accelerated the payment schedule for dues, releasing two consecutive tranches during the fiscal year 2025/2026 instead of spreading them over two years. This move underscores the government's priority to support the export sector and enhance its competitiveness in global markets, boosting confidence among exporters and encouraging them to increase their shipments.

Liquidity as a Cornerstone for Competitiveness

Kojak added that maintaining liquidity for exporters is one of the most critical pillars for enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and raising export rates. The export burden relief program aims to ease financial pressures on exporters, enabling them to lower production costs and improve product quality to compete internationally. The government reaffirms its commitment to supporting this vital sector, targeting the full clearance of all outstanding dues within two years.
