Accident at El Galaa Bridge Paralyzes Salah Salem Axis as Traffic Congestion Engulfs Nile Corniche and Downtown
A collision on El Galaa Bridge turned traffic upside down this morning. The Salah Salem Axis witnessed severe congestion from the bridge toward Cairo Airport. Relevant authorities were notified immediately. Traffic services moved to the scene to clear the wreckage and restore vehicle flow.
Heavy Traffic on Nile Corniche and Major Cairo Thoroughfares
The gridlock was not limited to Salah Salem Axis alone. The Nile Corniche from El-Malek El-Saleh to Qasr El-Aini and Tahrir saw heavy traffic densities with a noticeable slowdown in car movement. Giza's Hadayek El-Kobba Bridge also recorded massive traffic volumes and vehicle congestion in both directions.
The numbers are staggering. Morning rush hour turned into a nightmare for drivers in Heliopolis, Maadi, and Manial. Traffic slowed significantly there, while Qasr El-Aini, downtown, and Al-Azhar Tunnel areas experienced high traffic volumes. Traffic officers advised drivers to use alternative axes such as Ramses and Abbaseya for those heading to eastern Cairo.
Giza and October City Face Similar Conditions
On the other side, Giza Governorate paints a similar picture. Agouza and Mohandessin witnessed scattered traffic densities due to increased vehicle movement on their main arteries. Haram and Remaya axes recorded moderate congestion, while Saflaban, Faisal, Tawabek, Giza Square, Sudan Street. Bein El-Sarayat were scenes of noticeable vehicle buildup.
Details reveal a more complex scenario. 6th of October City saw moderate congestion in most areas, but the central axis was the exception, reaching high-density levels. In stark contrast, the Autostrad axis saw fully regulated traffic flow, with notable smooth movement in Shubra and parts of downtown Cairo.
Traffic services remain deployed across all major axes to ensure citizen safety and guide drivers to alternative routes. Patience will be key until circulation gradually returns to normal.
