Egyptian Insurer Begins Payouts for Ismailia Accident.. 18 Dead and 29 Injured
A horrific accident shook Ismailia governorate on Tuesday afternoon. A truck carrying workers collided with another on the Dawawees road in Qassaseen district, leaving 18 dead and 29 injured so far.
The Egyptian Motor Third-Party Insurance Pool announced the start of compensation payouts for those affected. The crash occurred near the Shabab power station when the first truck's driver lost control, veered off course, and smashed into the second vehicle also transporting workers.
Immediate measures by the insurer
Once the validity of the mandatory insurance policies was confirmed, executive director Ibrahim Labib directed the Ismailia branch to expedite all procedures. Compensation will cover both death cases and injuries under the new coverage limits defined in the policy.
The pool confirmed it will begin settling claims as soon as accident documents are received and the legal description is finalized by the public prosecution. It also emphasized full cooperation with victims' families and streamlining the release of due payments.
Death and injury coverage
The policy issued by the pool includes coverage for death and human injuries resulting from car accidents, with EGP 100,000 paid for each death. The executive director extended heartfelt condolences to the victims' families, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
