The Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club has issued an urgent warning to citizens, urging them to exercise extreme caution and avoid dealing with any unauthorized entities that claim to issue international driving permits. The club emphasized that such permits may not be recognized internationally, potentially exposing their holders to serious legal and administrative problems while traveling or driving outside Egypt, especially in countries that adhere to international traffic conventions.

The Club is the Only Official Entity Authorized to Issue Permits

Mohamed Askar, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club, clarified that the club is the sole official entity in Egypt authorized to issue international driving permits. This authority is granted by a mandate from the International Automobile Federation and in accordance with Egyptian law. Askar stressed that any permit carrying an "international" designation issued by any other entity cannot be guaranteed recognition by competent authorities abroad, which could result in penalties, fines, or even a driving ban for the holder.

Issuance Locations and Required Documents

Meanwhile, Amr El-Etreby, the club's General Manager, revealed the approved locations for obtaining the international permit. These include the club's main headquarters in central Cairo, the Alexandria rest house, and several branches established in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior at Cairo International Airport (Terminal 3 and Air Mall), Borg El Arab Airport, Sphinx International Airport, as well as a branch at City Stars in Nasr City.

El-Etreby pointed out that the issuance process requires presenting a valid original Egyptian driving license that has been held for at least one year, the original national ID card or passport, and two recent personal photos. The applicant must appear in person. He confirmed that the entire issuance process takes only a few minutes, making the service quick and straightforward for those who meet the requirements.

Warning Against Misleading Advertisements and Legal Action

The club's General Manager strongly cautioned against falling for advertisements or social media pages that claim to issue international driving permits outside the official framework. He confirmed that the club will take all necessary legal measures against any entity that misuses its name or provides unauthorized services. El-Etreby urged citizens to contact the Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club directly to verify any entity claiming to offer this service, in order to protect their rights and avoid any problems that could affect their travel plans.
