The Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club organized the first official training session for the 'Auto Slalom' slalom speed racing championship, in cooperation with the 'Old School' team. The event took place at the car market venue on the Ain Sokhna road, serving as a preparatory step for launching the championship for the first time in Egypt under the regulations of the FIA.

The training saw the participation of 27 drivers from various age groups, including both professional and amateur racers. The aim was to familiarize participants with the nature of the competition and gain practical experience in an environment simulating official races.

The program included setting up the race track and drawing the course according to the technical standards approved by the FIA. This was followed by an introductory meeting with participants to explain the championship rules, instructions, and safety procedures. Practical car trials then began using the official competition system, with timing recorded to allow drivers to test their abilities under conditions similar to real races.

Wael Abdel Jalil, Deputy General Manager of the Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club, stated that the Auto Slalom race represents a new addition to motorsport in Egypt. He noted that the club is working to implement it according to international standards approved by the FIA, which will help expand the participant base and attract new talents.

Abdel Jalil added that the main goal of these training sessions is to raise driver skill levels and familiarize them with competition rules, while also enhancing safety and security elements within races. He confirmed that this experience represents the first phase of launching a full championship in the near future.

Shady Osama, founder of the 'Old School' team and organizer of the championship, explained that the Auto Slalom race is based on competition on a single track divided into two lanes for each driver. The driver completes the first round on one side, then moves to the other side of the track in the second round. The best time achieved is counted to determine the final result.

Osama pointed out that these training sessions aim to prepare drivers for participation in the main championship and achieve the best results during its rounds. He added that the top four competitors in the overall ranking—two men and two women—will qualify to represent Egypt in the international 'Motorsport Games' championship affiliated with the FIA, scheduled to be held at the end of the year.
