History was made in Egypt's automotive market last month. MG claimed the top spot in passenger car sales for the first time ever, dethroning Nissan after a long period of dominance. The numbers signal a genuine power shift in the local industry.

Top 15 Brands – Full July Ranking

MG led the pack with 1,889 units sold, followed closely by Chery with 1,646 and Hyundai with 1,572. Nissan slipped to fourth place after delivering just 1,499 vehicles, while Jetour rounded out the top five with 1,458 units.

SEV secured sixth position with 1,209 cars, ahead of Kia (1,040) and Toyota (915). Mercedes-Benz finished ninth with 671 vehicles, and Chevrolet took tenth with 661.

Looking at specific nameplates, the Nissan Sunny once again dominated with 1,213 units. The MG ZS followed with 632 sales, while the Hyundai Elantra AD posted 588 units. The Chery Arrizo 5 and Jetour T2 recorded 346 and 272 units respectively.

June Comparison – What Changed

The contrast with June could not be starker. Nissan led that month with 2,099 units, trailed by Chery (1,443) and Hyundai (1,332). Yet the real story was MG's incredible leap from fifth to first place in just 30 days.

Chery and Hyundai held their ground firmly, while Jetour lost one position after a strong June. Chevrolet and Changan swapped spots in the standings, and the rest of the pack remained relatively stable. The market is clearly entering a new phase of intense rivalry where no brand can afford to rest.
