Egypt's New Vehicle Registrations Drop 10% in July
The numbers tell a clear story. Egypt registered 63,541 brand-new vehicles during July, according to the monthly report from the compulsory insurance pool for vehicles. That figure covers private cars, trucks, and buses across the country. The market is moving, just slower.
Monthly Sales Slide Nearly 10%
The decline is far from trivial. July registrations fell close to 10% compared to June's 70,497 units, reflecting a noticeable zigzag in buying activity through the summer season. Yet June itself had posted a massive 25.58% jump over May, a sign of just how volatile the Egyptian automotive market has become lately.
Breakdown by Model Year
The data throws up a surprise. Model year 2026 vehicles dominated July registrations with 40,158 units, followed by 2027 models at 13,727 units. Model year 2025 came in third with 6,909 vehicles, while 2024 models registered 1,611 units and 2023 models barely reached 1,136.
Comparing with June paints a deeper picture. June saw 49,261 units of 2026 models, 8,737 units of 2027 models. 9,714 units of 2025 models. The sharp drop in 2025 models — from 9,714 down to 6,909 — is particularly striking, signaling buyer preference shifting rapidly toward the newest offerings in showrooms.
July's numbers also show 2024 models held their ground at 1,611 units versus 1,727 in June, while 2023 models actually inched up from 1,058 to 1,136. These granular shifts in model-year distribution offer valuable clues for dealers and analysts tracking real consumer demand across Egypt's evolving market.
