Egypt's New Vehicle Registrations Drop 9.87% in July
The numbers are down. Data from the mandatory insurance report shows new vehicle registrations in July fell to 63,541 units, compared to 70,497 in June — a decline of 6,956 vehicles, or 9.87%.
Breakdown by Model Year
Distribution tells a clearer story. Registrations included 1,136 units from 2023, 1,611 from 2024, and 6,909 from 2025. The largest share went to 2026 models with 40,158 units, followed by 2027 models at 13,727. Demand for the newest model years remains intact.
Mixed Performance Across Segments
Not every category followed the same path last month. Private passenger cars posted growth, while motorcycles and commercial truck registrations slipped — a sign of diverging momentum inside Egypt's auto market. The market is rebalancing.
This drop comes right after a strong upward run in previous months, and the latest figures suggest the industry is still seeing normal swings tied to price changes and purchase timing. New cars continue to draw solid interest among Egyptian buyers.
