From EGP 650K to EGP 4M: Budget and Luxury Cars Dominate Demand in Egypt

Egypt's automotive market is witnessing an unusual surge — but it's happening at both price extremes. Budget cars starting at EGP 650,000 and luxury imports reaching EGP 4 million are the two segments drawing the heaviest demand in 2026. The gap between them is massive. Yet both are moving.

Waiting Lists Stretch for Months

Media figure Hisham El-Ziny revealed that both categories are seeing bookings and waiting lists extending for months ahead, despite the enormous price difference between them. Speaking on his radio program 'Arabiyetty' on Radio Egypt, he said demand for budget vehicles — particularly locally assembled models — is intense. The upper ceiling for this segment sits at EGP 900,000 to one million.

Chinese Imports Apply Real Pressure

Imported Chinese cars paint a different picture. Priced between EGP 3 and 4 million, they are pulling significant bookings thanks to advanced technology and competitive specifications. This tells us something important: Egyptian buyers are no longer shopping on price alone. They want value in return.

Government Support Paves the Way

The state has extended substantial backing to the automotive sector and investors — land allocations, incentives, and a national program to support local manufacturing. El-Ziny stressed that these advantages should be channeled into producing high-quality vehicles capable of attracting consumers with competitive specs and pricing. The support is there. Execution on production lines will decide the outcome.

What's unfolding in Egypt's new car market isn't a seasonal spike. Two opposite price segments are both gaining momentum — united by one thing: buyers want real value for what they pay.
