Egypt's Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, has approved a measure authorizing the Asset Recovery and Management Authority to contract with the Investment Trust sector of both the National Bank of Egypt and Banque Misr. The agreement aims to provide classification, evaluation, pricing, and marketing services for a number of vehicles owned by the authority, in preparation for their public auction sale. This decision aligns with the state's broader strategy to maximize the utilization of idle assets and accelerate asset disposal procedures.

Scope of the Plan and Covered Vehicles

The plan includes vehicles that have become property of the authority, as well as cars for which the Public Prosecution has issued decisions to dispose of through public auction. The government intends to reduce storage burdens caused by the accumulation of vehicles in impound lots and designated car graveyards across the country, while generating economic returns from selling these assets. These actions follow directives from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to expedite the handling of stagnant vehicles and stored items.

New Rescue Vehicle for Civil Protection Forces

In a related development, the Cabinet approved a request from the Alexandria Governorate to contract for the purchase of a modern rescue and firefighting vehicle equipped with a hydraulic ladder, for the governorate's Civil Protection Department. The government confirmed that the new vehicle will enhance the capabilities of civil protection units in responding to high-rise building incidents, particularly collapses and fires, thereby improving rescue response times and preserving citizens' lives. This step is part of broader efforts to modernize the firefighting and civil protection system nationwide.

These decisions reflect the government's focus on improving public asset management and enhancing the efficiency of service agencies, with an emphasis on maximizing the benefit from available resources. The evaluation and marketing process for seized vehicles is expected to stimulate the local auction market, offering citizens and companies opportunities to purchase cars at competitive prices after undergoing rigorous technical assessment.
