The General Administration of Giza Traffic has announced a full closure of 26th of July Street, in the direction from Lebanon Square to May 15 Bridge, for a period of four months. This closure is part of the construction works for the Wadi El Nile Line 6 Monorail project connecting to October City. The operation involves lifting a concrete girder and installing concrete slabs for the Wadi El Nile Monorail station, effective from 12:50 AM until completion.

Traffic Diversions and Management

Giza Traffic authorities have implemented a traffic diversion plan for vehicles coming from Lebanon Square heading to May 15 Bridge. These vehicles will be directed to a newly constructed 120-meter-long temporary route within the monorail station works area, returning to the original road after passing the construction zone. These measures aim to maintain traffic flow and minimize congestion during the extended closure period.

Impact on Public Transport Development

This closure is part of the monorail project, a key modern public transport initiative in Greater Cairo, designed to link Giza with 6th of October City via a rapid transit line. The ongoing works are expected to accelerate station completion, benefiting thousands of daily commuters once fully operational. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes and plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays.
