Chevrolet Dominates Minivan Segment with 61% Market Share in First 5 Months of 2026
The numbers speak volumes. Chevrolet captured the largest share of Egypt's minivan market in the first five months of this year, leaving its closest rival far behind. The American brand sold 535 vehicles, accounting for 61 percent of total segment sales.
A surprising turn in the family car segment
Egypt's automotive market is witnessing a notable shift. Chevrolet's performance outpaced all other brands by a wide margin, reflecting strong consumer confidence in its minivan offerings. Competitors simply could not keep up with this pace.
535 units is more than just a statistic. It represents a real change in buyer preferences toward practical vehicles with generous interior space. The market is moving in a completely different direction from just two years ago.
Suzuki takes second place with a significant gap
Suzuki secured the runner-up position with 349 vehicles sold during the same period. The Japanese brand captured 39 percent of total minivan sales, maintaining its strong presence in the segment despite the gap.
The difference between first and second is substantial. Chevrolet sold 186 more units than Suzuki — a lead that underscores its dominance. Shifting this balance seems unlikely in the near term.
Data from AMIC, Egypt's automotive market information council, revealed these precise figures. The minivan segment remains relatively small compared to other categories, yet competition among key players remains intense.
