Cairo Road Network Upgrades: New Projects to Streamline Traffic Flow from Ataba to Heliopolis
Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, met with Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The periodic meeting focused on following up on infrastructure projects that directly impact daily traffic flow and citizen mobility.
The meeting reviewed the governorate's plan to upgrade the road network and vital traffic axes, aiming to improve the flow of public and private vehicles across the capital. Discussions also covered the implementation rates of projects within the current fiscal year's investment plan, focusing on main roads, streets, and squares to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance road safety.
Ataba Market Development and Commercial Transport Organization
The discussion also addressed the second phase of the Ataba market development project in the Muski area. This vital project aims to upgrade infrastructure, organize vehicle and pedestrian movement, and improve surrounding streets. It also focuses on facilitating access to parking areas and regulating commercial transport within the zone to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance the urban landscape.
Upgrading Traffic Axes in Heliopolis
Furthermore, the meeting reviewed development efforts in key areas of Heliopolis, which include improving main streets and traffic axes while upgrading transport facilities. These initiatives are designed to preserve the district's distinguished urban character while ensuring seamless traffic flow for cars and public transportation.
The Minister also reviewed the governorate's efforts to improve the waste collection and public cleanliness system. These efforts directly impact vehicle movement and road congestion, particularly in densely populated areas.
The Minister of Local Development and Environment emphasized the importance of continuous coordination with Cairo Governorate to execute political directives. She highlighted the necessity of developing the road network and infrastructure to support public and private transport, ultimately achieving a qualitative leap in service levels and improving citizens' quality of life.
For his part, the Governor of Cairo affirmed that the governorate will continue to monitor the implementation of national projects and the development of roads and traffic axes. He stressed that this is being done in full cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development and Environment to ensure safe, smooth traffic and reduce congestion in the capital, reflecting the state's commitment to improving the transport and public services system.
