Cairo Governor Issues Strict Directives to Secure Lemon Bridge Area After Renovation

Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, conducted a field inspection tour to follow up on the development and upgrading works currently underway at the Lemon Bridge (Kobri Al-Laimoun) and its surroundings, as part of the governorate's plan to improve infrastructure and elevate the level of traffic flow in vital areas of the capital. This tour comes within the framework of the governorate's ongoing efforts to develop main squares and streets, aiming to improve the quality of life for citizens and facilitate movement in Cairo's streets.

Field Tour Details and Key Directives

During the tour, the governor reviewed the implementation rates of ongoing works and the level of discipline in the area, emphasizing the importance of continuing efforts to maintain a civilized appearance and prevent any obstacles that might affect the smooth flow of vehicles and pedestrians. The Cairo Governor stressed to the executive bodies the necessity of continuous follow-up to prevent the return of encroachments and street vendors to the bridge's vicinity, with immediate measures to be taken against any violations, contributing to improved traffic flow and providing a safer environment for road users.

Renovation Works and Heritage Preservation

The governor explained that the restoration and upgrading works of the Lemon Bridge, which is considered one of the heritage landmarks in Khedival Cairo, are being implemented in coordination with relevant authorities to preserve its historical value, along with developing sidewalks and improving the visual landscape of the bridge and surrounding areas. This development is part of an integrated plan implemented by the governorate to develop the Ramses Square area and its surroundings, aiming to enhance traffic fluidity, reduce congestion, and upgrade the efficiency of the road network and services provided to citizens, thereby supporting the restoration of the capital's civilized image.
