A widely shared video on social media in Egypt over the past few hours has documented a serious collision believed to have occurred on the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road, drawing renewed attention to the importance of following road safety procedures when a vehicle breaks down on a highway.

According to the footage, the incident began when a vehicle broke down in the middle of the road at night. The driver exited the vehicle and attempted to warn approaching motorists traveling in the same direction in an effort to prevent a collision.

While several drivers were able to pass the disabled vehicle safely, one vehicle eventually struck it, triggering a chain reaction that resulted in multiple consecutive collisions.

The video footage suggests that the crash could potentially have been avoided if the driver of the disabled vehicle had followed the recommended traffic safety measures commonly applied in such situations.
