Cairo Airport Customs Car Auction: Mercedes, BMW and Porsche Among Lots
The General Authority for Government Services has announced a public auction for used passenger cars from Cairo International Airport Customs. Multiple lots are up for grabs, featuring European, American, Japanese and Korean brands. Here are the full details.
Mercedes, BMW and Range Rover Lead the List
The lineup includes models from Mercedes and BMW, plus Porsche, Audi, Range Rover, Land Rover, Jeep Grand Cherokee and GMC. The list extends further to include Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Kia, Hyundai, Skoda, Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler and Peugeot.
The numbers matter for potential buyers. The auction session is set for 12 noon on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the Al Hadarat Sports Club hall on Salah Salem Street, opposite Ein El Sira traffic office in Cairo. Vehicles are sold as "lots" according to the order and details in the tender book, with physical inspection being the basis of the sale.
Participation Requirements and Required Deposit
Joining the auction requires purchasing the terms and specifications book for EGP 400. The temporary deposit to enter the auction is set at EGP 50,000, refundable if no lot is awarded to the participant.
Individuals can participate using a valid national ID card, while corporate entities must provide their tax card among the required documents. The key difference here is that the amount is deducted from the vehicle or lot value when the bid is awarded to the buyer.
Payment Mechanism After Winning
The winning bidder must pay 30% of the value immediately after the auction ends. The remaining balance must be settled within just 15 days. The sale is completed without charging any commission.
The auction is part of a broader session that also includes passenger inspection customs goods and customs sales at Cairo Airport, the 6th of October warehouse and its annexes, featuring car spare parts and various appliances and goods.
Experts advise focusing on technical inspection before bidding. The brand name or exterior appearance alone isn't enough for evaluation, and calculating maintenance costs and potential repairs remains the deciding factor in determining the appropriate maximum bid price.
