Amiriya Bridge Reopens After Major Rehabilitation of Concrete Joints and Pavement

The Amiriya Bridge over the Ismailia Canal is officially back in service following a comprehensive upgrade project. The inauguration was attended by Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, Engineer Hossam Abdel Fattah, Governor of Qalyubia, and Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo. This vital crossing serves as a key traffic artery linking Cairo and Qalyubia, aiming to ease congestion and secure the daily movement of thousands of commuters.

Scope of the Amiriya Bridge Rehabilitation Work

Rehabilitation efforts focused on strengthening the bridge's structural components and enhancing its technical efficiency. The concrete expansion joints were completely treated and repaired, while the bridge deck received a fresh layer of asphalt pavement. These measures are designed to extend the bridge's lifespan and significantly improve safety standards for all road users.

Minister Manal Awad stated that this project aligns with the state's vision to preserve critical infrastructure. The road and bridge network is a key pillar supporting development and improving citizens' quality of life. The ministry remains committed to supporting governorates in maximizing the value of public investments.

Strategic Importance of the Project

The bridge's location gives it strategic importance that extends beyond just traffic volume. It serves a wide geographical area between Cairo and Qalyubia, highlighting the vital role of inter-governorate cooperation. The opening ceremony saw the presence of numerous executive leaders and members of parliament. Among the attendees were Dr. Eman, Deputy Governor of Qalyubia, Major General Omar Mahmoud El-Shafei, Deputy Cairo Governor for the Northern Region. Engineer Gehan Massoud, Secretary General of Qalyubia Governorate. This project forms part of the Qalyubia Governorate's National Day celebrations.

The Amiriya Bridge represents a major traffic lifeline connecting the two governorates. Governor Hossam Abdel Fattah noted that the project directly targets improving the efficiency of main corridors. Public investment in such infrastructure upgrades translates directly into smoother traffic flow and reduced travel time for citizens.
