AMIC: Egypt Sells Over 81,000 Vehicles in Five Months
The numbers are significant. The Egyptian Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC) reported total vehicle sales exceeding 81,000 units during the first five months of 2026. This figure covers passenger cars, trucks. Buses — and it marks a substantial acceleration compared to the same period last year.
Overall Market Growth Exceeds 40%
According to AMIC's official data, total sales from January to May 2026 reached 81,371 vehicles. That is a leap from the 58,080 vehicles sold during the same five-month window in 2025 — representing a growth rate of over 40%. The market is clearly recovering momentum.
Passenger Car Sales Jump 37%
The passenger car segment drove the bulk of the increase. Sales hit 61,895 units in the first five months of 2026, compared to 45,075 units in the same period last year. That is a solid 37% growth — suggesting strong individual buyer demand despite ongoing economic pressures and fluctuating vehicle prices in Egypt.
Truck Segment Grows 35%
The commercial transport sector followed closely. Truck sales totaled 12,900 units in the first five months of 2026. The year before, only 9,572 trucks were sold in the same period. The increase stands at roughly 35% — a clear sign that logistics and freight activity are expanding across the country.
Bus Sales Nearly Double
The most dramatic figure came from the bus segment. Sales surged to 6,576 units, up from just 3,433 buses in the first five months of 2025. The growth rate hit an extraordinary 92%. This spike likely reflects large-scale fleet purchases by government transport authorities or private operators investing in public transit infrastructure.
