The monthly report issued by the Egyptian Compulsory Vehicle Insurance Pool has revealed the continued dominance of 2026 model year vehicles in the Egyptian market during May 2026, alongside an early and strong emergence of 2027 models across several segments.

Overall Registration Figures

The report indicated that total new vehicles insured and registered during May reached 56,141 units. 2026 models captured the largest share with 41,952 vehicles, representing the vast majority of new registrations for the month.

Early Arrival of 2027 Models

2027 models made a notable appearance with a total of 4,687 vehicles, signaling an early influx of newer model year vehicles into the local market. This trend is driven by intense competition among brands to attract consumers with the latest models and features.

Decline in Older Model Years

In contrast, the share of older model years declined significantly. Only 7,304 vehicles from the 2025 model year were registered, while 2024 models accounted for 1,355 units, and 2023 models dropped to 843 vehicles.

Passenger Car Segment

In the passenger car segment, 2026 models also maintained dominance with 15,487 units, compared to 3,150 units for 2027 models. The 2025 model year recorded 1,331 cars, followed by 536 units for 2024 and just 404 cars for the 2023 model year.

Motorcycle Segment

Within the motorcycle segment, 2026 models captured the largest share with 23,776 units, compared to 5,741 motorcycles from the 2025 model year. Only one 2027 model motorcycle was registered during the month.

Commercial Transport Segment

The commercial transport segment saw a strong showing from 2027 models, which recorded 1,373 trucks, surpassing 2026 models at 875 units. This reflects a shift among companies and importers toward introducing newer model years in this fast-moving commercial sector.

Market Analysis and Trends

Observers believe the heavy focus on 2026 and 2027 models reflects a clear shift in demand patterns within the Egyptian market. Consumers are increasingly prioritizing the latest model years, whether for resale value considerations or access to new features and technologies.

The data also suggests the market is experiencing a faster model refresh cycle compared to previous years, coinciding with the return of certain brands and relative stability in new vehicle availability across several segments.
