Stellantis Announces Plans to Launch 17 New Models in Egypt by 2030
Global automotive group Stellantis has announced its intention to introduce 17 new models in the Egyptian market between 2027 and 2030, through its various brand portfolios. This move comes as part of renewing the group's commitment to the local market and placing Egypt at the forefront of its growth ambitions in the Middle East and Africa region, within its broad strategy known as "FaSTLAne 2030."
Diverse Lineup Covering Multiple Segments
The brands under Stellantis include Jeep, Citroën, Alfa Romeo, Opel, Peugeot, Fiat, and Leapmotor. The new lineup will cover multiple segments including SUVs, sedans, and hatchbacks, offering Egyptian customers a wider range of choices to meet various mobility needs. The models will vary between petrol-powered vehicles, fully electric cars, Range Extended Electric Vehicles (REEV), and hybrids, reflecting the group's commitment to providing diverse mobility solutions.
Strategic Partnerships to Boost Expansion
This product expansion is based on Stellantis' global strategy centered on collaboration and strategic partnerships, combining the group's engineering expertise with international alliances to develop innovative cars at competitive prices. These plans include a partnership with Leapmotor to establish LPMI for sales outside China, with Stellantis holding 51% and Leapmotor 49%, contributing five new models. Another partnership with Dongfeng to form DPCA, with Stellantis holding 51% and Dongfeng 49%, will produce various models outside China, contributing four models. Additionally, a partnership with Tata Motors, with Stellantis holding 51% and Tata Motors 49% outside India, will contribute one model, along with a collaboration with JLR to develop selected models for North American markets.
Leveraging In-House Capabilities
Alongside these partnerships, seven models have been fully developed and manufactured by Stellantis itself, demonstrating continued investment in its own engineering, design, and manufacturing capabilities. The company is also currently exploring opportunities to expand its industrial presence in Egypt, including potential projects for local vehicle assembly under the Complete Knock Down (CKD) system. This underscores the group's long-term confidence in the Egyptian market and its growing role as a leading regional automotive hub.
Official Statements on the Importance of the Egyptian Market
Commenting on the company's plans, Samir Cherfan, Chief Operating Officer of Stellantis for the Middle East and Africa, stated that Egypt is one of the most important and promising markets for the group in the region. He emphasized that these ambitious plans reflect Stellantis' vision for the Egyptian market and its keenness to offer the latest automotive technologies and diverse powertrain systems, meeting consumer aspirations and supporting the state's direction toward localizing the automotive industry.
