Stellantis Unveils Ambitious Egypt Plan: 17 New Models and Local Assembly Study
Stellantis has reaffirmed its strategic commitment to the Egyptian market, positioning it as one of the most important target markets within its growth strategy for the Middle East and Africa. The announcement comes as part of the FaSTLAne 2030 plan, which focuses on expansion in promising markets and strengthening industrial presence in the region.
17 New Models on the Horizon
Stellantis revealed plans to launch 17 new models across its diverse brand portfolio, including Jeep, Peugeot, Opel, Citroën, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Leapmotor. These models are scheduled to arrive in the Egyptian market between 2027 and 2030, alongside a study of local assembly opportunities through CKD operations. The lineup will include SUVs, sedans, and hatchbacks, designed to meet the needs of various customer segments.
Diverse Powertrain Options
The company confirmed that the new models will not be limited to conventional vehicles. The range will also include fully electric vehicles, Range Extended Electric Vehicles (REEV), and hybrid models. This diversified approach aligns with Stellantis' strategy to offer comprehensive mobility solutions that keep pace with global automotive industry trends.
Global Partnerships Fueling Expansion
The expansion plan relies heavily on Stellantis' extensive network of international partnerships. These include a collaboration with Leapmotor, which will contribute five new models for markets outside China, and a partnership with Dongfeng that will add four models. Stellantis is also working with Tata Motors to introduce a new model, alongside a joint venture with JLR to develop vehicles tailored for North American markets.
In addition to these external partnerships, Stellantis confirmed that it has fully developed and manufactured seven models within its own ecosystem. This step underscores the company's continued investment in design, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities, supporting its ambitious expansion plans over the coming years.
Local Assembly Under Consideration
In a move highlighting its growing interest in the Egyptian market, Stellantis announced that it is actively studying opportunities to expand its industrial footprint in Egypt. This includes potential CKD assembly projects, which would support local manufacturing and strengthen Egypt's position as a regional automotive hub. Samir Cherfan, Stellantis Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East and Africa region, emphasized the strategic importance of the Egyptian market within the group's future roadmap.
