Kayan Egypt, the official distributor of Skoda in Egypt, has released an official statement disclosing the complete details surrounding a fire incident involving a 2026 Skoda model. The statement came after the news spread widely on social media platforms. The distributor confirmed that it immediately contacted the car owner and her husband upon learning of the incident, without waiting for any legal or technical procedures to be completed.

Temporary Replacement Vehicle Offered

According to the company's statement, a temporary replacement vehicle was offered to the customer during the early days following the incident, pending the conclusion of standard procedures. However, the customer declined the offer and also refused the replacement car that the company had placed at her disposal. The distributor emphasized that this offer was made in an effort to ease the burden on the customer during a difficult time.

Specialized Expert Called In for Inspection

To determine the technical causes of the fire, the company brought in a specialized technical expert to participate in the inspection process. The team visited the location of the vehicle, which remains in the customer's possession, and conducted an initial examination in her presence. The statement indicated that further technical analysis and studies will continue to identify the actual and final causes of the incident.

Amicable Settlement Offer Rejected

Skoda's distributor in Egypt revealed that it offered the customer an amicable settlement, including a brand-new replacement vehicle with identical specifications, as well as covering all expenses she had incurred. The company clarified that this offer was made without admitting liability for the incident or acknowledging any manufacturing defect in the vehicle. Nevertheless, the customer chose to pursue the official legal route, rejected the amicable settlement, and filed a formal complaint with the Consumer Protection Authority.

Awaiting Final Consumer Protection Report

The Skoda distributor stated that it respects the decisions of the Consumer Protection Authority and has therefore suspended any further amicable initiatives with the customer until the technical inspection procedures are completed and a final ruling is issued by the competent authorities. The statement emphasized that the causes of the incident have not yet been officially determined or technically resolved, and no final report has been issued confirming a manufacturing defect or any other cause.

Modifications Performed Outside Authorized Center

In conclusion, the distributor acknowledged that the affected vehicle had undergone certain additions and modifications performed outside the official authorized service center. The company confirmed that these matters are still under investigation and study, and no conclusion has been reached regarding their connection to the incident. The investigation file remains open pending the final expert report from the relevant authorities.
