Nissan Magnite Production Officially Begins in Egypt, First African Country to Manufacture the Model

Nissan Egypt has officially inaugurated the production line for the Nissan Magnite crossover at its plant in 6th of October City, making Egypt the first African country to manufacture this model globally. The opening ceremony was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, who witnessed the first locally assembled unit roll off the new line.

Nissan Magnite Specifications

The vehicle is powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 100 horsepower, fully compliant with Euro 6 emission standards. It achieves a fuel consumption rate of 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers, offering strong efficiency in its segment. The Magnite also boasts a 5-star safety rating, equipped with six airbags and advanced protection technologies.

Local Content Ratio and Production Plans

Nissan announced that the local content ratio for the Magnite has exceeded 50%, reaching 55%. This is part of the company's strategy to increase the plant's annual production capacity to 50,000 vehicles. Nissan has invested $45 million in new production lines and higher manufacturing rates, according to Mohamed Abdel Samad, Managing Director of Nissan Egypt and Nissan Africa. Abdel Samad confirmed that the Magnite will play a pivotal role in Nissan's sales across African markets.

Government Support for the Automotive Industry

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reaffirmed the government's continued support for automakers, offering incentives to global companies to establish industrial bases in Egypt. The goal is to transfer automotive technology to the local market, boost component suppliers, and increase export opportunities.

Nissan's History in Egypt and 25,000 Exported Units

Mohamed Abdel Samad stated that Nissan has invested a total of $276 million in its 6th of October plant since 2004, which spans 104,000 square meters. The company reached an annual production volume of 30,000 vehicles in 2025 and aims to raise maximum capacity to 50,000 units per year. Nissan has also successfully exported 25,000 locally manufactured cars over the past years.

Nissan Leads the Market with 18.6% Share

Nissan provides 1,000 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect jobs, including those in the automotive component supply chain. The company topped the Egyptian automotive market in 2025 with a market share of 18.6%.
