Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly attended the ceremony marking the production of the first Nissan Magnite in Africa at the Nissan Egypt plant in 6th of October City during his inspection tour of the facility. The event was attended by Khaled Hashim, Minister of Industry; Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Giza; alongside Fumio Iwai, Japanese Ambassador to Egypt; as well as senior officials, local component suppliers, spare parts providers, and authorized dealers of Nissan Egypt.

New Investment and Localization Drive

The production of the Nissan Magnite comes under a memorandum of understanding signed between Nissan and the Egyptian government on December 4, 2024, under which the company committed to investing $45 million to upgrade passenger car assembly lines in preparation for local production. The locally assembled Nissan Magnite boasts a local content ratio exceeding 55%, setting a new benchmark for domestic manufacturing and underscoring Egypt's capability to produce and assemble vehicles through a robust network of local suppliers and component manufacturers. This investment strengthens Egypt's position as a regional automotive hub in the Middle East and Africa.

Nissan Leadership Comments

Max Messina, President of Nissan AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania) region, stated: "The start of local assembly of the Nissan Magnite in Egypt is a clear affirmation of Egypt's status as a strategic pillar for local manufacturing, assembly, and marketing of Nissan vehicles in the region, as well as a key partner in our long-term vision for growth and manufacturing in this pivotal regional market. Our unwavering confidence in Egyptian industrial capabilities, coupled with our close partnership with government entities, drives us to continue this achievement as part of Nissan's global strategy to enhance and support high-efficiency, flexible manufacturing centers capable of sustaining our regional growth and delivering exceptional vehicles that meet our customers' aspirations."

Jordi Vila, Regional Vice President for Nissan Europe and Africa, and After-Sales and Brand Services, added: "The assembly of the Nissan Magnite in Egypt represents a model of industrial excellence that we aim to establish regionally. It also reflects our ability to align local manufacturing with Nissan's global standards of quality, efficiency, and operational discipline. Most importantly, it confirms the growing strategic importance of Africa within Nissan's global vision, where Egypt plays a pivotal role in this strategy."

Significance for the Egyptian Market

The Nissan Magnite is one of the most anticipated vehicles in the compact SUV segment, combining modern design and advanced technologies at competitive prices. With the start of local production, the vehicle is expected to see strong demand from Egyptian consumers, especially given the high local content ratio that helps reduce customs costs and improve affordability. This milestone also supports the Egyptian government's plans to deepen local manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports, boosting the national economy and creating new job opportunities in the automotive industry.
