Madbouly Witnesses Launch of First Nissan Magnite Assembled in Africa from Egypt

Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed this morning the production ceremony of the first Nissan Magnite ever assembled in Africa, at the Nissan Egypt factory in the 6th of October City. This historic step opens a new chapter in the history of the Egyptian automotive sector and solidifies Cairo's position as a leading regional hub for manufacturing and export to African and global markets.

High-Level Delegation at the Production Ceremony

The ceremony was attended by a high-ranking delegation including Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; Khalid Hashem, Minister of Industry; Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Giza; along with Fumio Iwai, Japanese Ambassador to Egypt, and top executives from Nissan globally, led by Massimiliano Max Messina, President for Africa and the Middle East; Jordi Vila, Regional Vice President; and Mohamed Abdel Samad, Managing Director of Nissan Africa.

Strategic Support for Local Manufacturing

In his speech, Madbouly emphasized that this event embodies Egypt's national strategy to deepen and localize manufacturing, especially in the strategic automotive sector. He stated that the government is keen to provide all forms of support to major global companies to establish and develop a strong, integrated industrial base. This contributes to transferring the latest global technologies, maximizing the local component ratio, and opening new export markets that meet the country's aspirations for regional leadership.

Minister of Investment Mohamed Farid noted that the start of production for this new model clearly reflects the attractiveness of Egypt's investment climate and its ability to attract major economic entities. He confirmed that the ministry continues to formulate investment incentives and trade facilities that support the expansion of the automotive sector and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exports.

National Automotive Industry Strategy

Minister of Industry Khalid Hashem stressed that this step is one of the important fruits of implementing the National Strategy for the Development of the Automotive Industry (AIDP). He pointed out that the ministry prioritizes supporting the network of local suppliers and feeder industries to raise overall production efficiency, thereby achieving the desired industrial integration.

Mohamed Abdel Samad, Managing Director of Nissan Africa, reviewed the company's success story since 2004 as the only global company in Egypt that fully owns its factory. He revealed that the company's total investments have exceeded $276 million, reflecting its deep commitment to the Egyptian market and its pivotal role in developing the local automotive industry.
