Hongqi is officially back in Egypt. The Chinese luxury brand, part of FAW Group, has appointed Hongqi Egypt — a Sky Holding subsidiary — as its official representative in the Egyptian market, with the agreement signed in China in the presence of Mohamed Belal, CEO of Sky Holding, and Mohamed Rizk, CEO of Hongqi Egypt. The move marks the brand's formal return to the local market under a recognized distributor after years without organized representation. It signals serious intent.

Hongqi Egypt Aims to Restore the Brand's True Standing

The stated goal goes beyond simply selling cars. Hongqi Egypt says it wants to bring the Chinese luxury marque back to its rightful place in Egypt, stressing that Hongqi isn't just another newly arrived Chinese company but a brand with deep heritage, a distinct design identity, and over six decades of automotive history. That positioning matters in a market where Chinese brands are multiplying fast but few carry genuine legacy.

Three Showrooms and a Dealer Network Across Six Governorates

On the ground, Hongqi Egypt will build an integrated sales network covering multiple governorates. The launch phase includes three main showrooms — one in New Cairo, one in Sheikh Zayed. One in Alexandria — supported by a network of authorized dealers in Cairo, Alexandria, Giza, Ismailia, Tanta, and Hurghada. That geographic spread suggests a deliberate expansion strategy rather than a Cairo-only experiment.

Sixty years. That is how long Hongqi has existed in the automotive sector, a figure that gives it a different weight compared to many newer Chinese brands entering the market. Sky Holding was founded in 1986 and brings substantial automotive experience through the partnership between B Auto and GAS, the Mercedes agent in Egypt. That background gives the team a deep understanding of local market dynamics and what luxury buyers actually expect.

More New Models Are on the Way

The Chinese company confirmed that additional new models will be launched in Egypt in the coming period, though specific details have not been disclosed yet. The message is clear: Hongqi is building for the long term, not testing the waters. With premium Chinese brands like Chery and BYD gaining ground, competition in the luxury segment will only intensify. Hongqi has the history, the design language, and a local partner who knows the road. But the Egyptian market grants no free trust — even to a 60-year-old name.
