Chinese automaker Geely has intensified its focus on the Egyptian market with a high-level visit by a delegation led by Alex Nan, the company's global general manager. The delegation met with officials from Abu Ghaly Motors, the local distributor for the Geely Galaxy brand specializing in new energy vehicles, to discuss future expansion plans and explore opportunities for local vehicle manufacturing.

Delegation Visit and Expansion Talks

Mohamed Abu Ghaly, CEO of Abu Ghaly Motors Group, and Tamer Qutb, Chairman of the Board, welcomed the Chinese delegation in a strategic meeting. The discussions reviewed the performance of Geely new energy vehicles in Egypt since their arrival in May 2026, along with the potential introduction of additional models tailored to local market demands. A key focus of the talks was studying the feasibility of local assembly and manufacturing for electric and hybrid vehicles, aligning with Egypt's strategy to localize the automotive industry.

Egypt's Strategic Importance for Geely

Alex Nan emphasized that Egypt is one of the most important markets in the Middle East for Geely, highlighting that the partnership with Abu Ghaly Motors is crucial for achieving the brand's growth objectives in the region. The visit underscores the company's strong interest in the local market and its significant position in the area, driven by increasing demand for new energy vehicles among Egyptian consumers.

Plans for 12 New Models and Local Manufacturing

Industry expectations suggest that Geely is preparing to introduce up to 12 new energy vehicle models in Egypt in the coming period. These plans include a comprehensive study of local manufacturing for fully electric and hybrid vehicles within the country, reinforcing Geely's commitment to supporting Egypt's industrial development. The moves are part of a broader strategy to strengthen the company's presence across the Middle East, with Egypt seen as a potential regional hub.

Notably, Geely Galaxy new energy vehicles have achieved impressive market performance since their Egyptian launch. Within just 15 days of introduction, the brand secured the fifth position in the new energy vehicle segment, and by June, it advanced to third place. This rapid success bolsters expectations for future model launches and reflects growing Egyptian consumer acceptance of advanced automotive technologies.
