Geely Emgrand 2025 and 2026 Models Recalled in Egypt for Fuel Tank Ventilation Issue
Automobility, the official distributor and manufacturer of Geely in Egypt, has announced a preventive recall campaign for a number of Geely Emgrand vehicles from the 2025 and 2026 model years. The recall is conducted in full coordination with the Consumer Protection Agency to inspect and repair a manufacturing defect in the fuel tank ventilation system.
Technical Defect Details
The company revealed that technical inspections identified a fault in the fuel tank ventilation system, known as the Canister. This defect can lead to several technical issues, including difficulty refueling and an inability to fill the tank to its full capacity, irregular or increased fuel consumption, and deformation of the fuel tank structure from the bottom due to pressure imbalance. The recall campaign reflects the company's commitment to customer safety and quality standards.
Free Repair Process and Booking
The campaign includes clear steps for affected vehicle owners. Owners can contact the company via the hotline at 16402 to schedule a prior inspection appointment. The vehicle will then be inspected at any authorized Geely service center across Egypt, and the defect will be repaired completely free of charge, with no additional costs or fees. The company emphasizes its commitment to providing fast and efficient service to all affected customers.
Ibrahim El-Segini, head of the Consumer Protection Agency, confirmed that this measure comes within the agency's supervisory role and its commitment to the safety and security of citizens, following an official notification from the brand's distributor. The Consumer Protection Agency stressed that it will continue to closely monitor the campaign to ensure timely service completion. The agency also noted that Egyptian consumer protection law requires all suppliers and distributors to immediately report any potential risks or manufacturing defects as soon as they are discovered, reinforcing transparency principles and safeguarding consumer safety.
