Geely Egypt Prepares to Assemble New Models After Local Manufacturing Success
The expansion of local manufacturing is opening a new chapter for Geely in Egypt. Youssef Ryan, marketing director at Geely Egypt, confirmed the company is gearing up for a broader push, with plans to assemble additional models in the coming period.
Success Beyond Expectations
Since production began in 2025, Geely's locally assembled cars have carved out a solid foothold in the Egyptian market, encouraging the company to double down on this path. Ryan told the automotive program 'Arabity' on Radio Egypt that the company currently assembles two models domestically — one positioned as a popular choice and the other targeting younger buyers.
The ambition doesn't stop there. The company is preparing to introduce more options on its production lines, aligning with local market demands and the growing appetite for compact and economical vehicles. That gives Geely a competitive edge in a segment crowded with rival brands fighting for attention.
Sixth of October Plant at the Core
Production takes place at the Sixth of October factory, one of Egypt's oldest automotive plants, according to Ryan. The facility operates with the latest manufacturing technology and meets global standards, ensuring high quality for vehicles produced locally — something the company is banking on to strengthen its market position.
The outlook points to a bigger presence for Geely vehicles in Egypt in the near future, surpassing current levels. This move reflects the automaker's expansion strategy in one of the region's largest car markets, especially as the government pushes for more local manufacturing and reduced reliance on imports.
It's not just about assembly, though. The company is carefully studying Egyptian consumer needs in terms of models and specifications. That shows in the choices being made for local production. The success Geely has achieved in this short period proves its ability to read the market and tackle challenges with a practical, results-driven approach.
