El Khanagry and Delmar Launch Egypt's First Smart Sunroof Plant with 75% Local Content
El Khanagry Group for Automotive Feeding Industries and Delmar Automotive, a subsidiary of Delmar Industrial Group, have announced a strategic partnership to develop, manufacture, and assemble smart sunroof systems for vehicles in Egypt, achieving a local content ratio exceeding 75%. This initiative aims to bolster the domestic automotive industry, reduce reliance on imports, and strengthen Egypt's position as a regional hub for advanced automotive component manufacturing.
First Integrated Industrial Model in Egypt
The project represents the first fully integrated industrial model of its kind in Egypt, combining the production of specialized glass for sunroof systems with the manufacturing and assembly of their mechanical and electrical components locally. This integration facilitates the transfer of cutting-edge technology to the local market and enhances the added value of the national industry, boosting the competitiveness of Egyptian-made products in global markets.
Role Division Between Partners
Under the agreement, Delmar Automotive will be responsible for manufacturing specialized glass for sunroof systems in accordance with the highest global automotive industry standards. Meanwhile, El Khanagry Group will handle the production and assembly of the mechanical and electrical components, as well as the motors for the system, delivering a fully integrated product bearing the "Made in Egypt" label, ensuring the quality and reliability demanded by international car manufacturers.
Ambitious Production Capacity and Export Plans
Engineer Raafat El Khanagry, CEO of El Khanagry Group, stated that the project marks a pivotal step in localizing the automotive feeding industries, aiming to build an industrial base capable of competing locally and regionally. He confirmed that production will commence in the first quarter of 2027 with an initial annual capacity of 30,000 units, scaling up to 150,000 units by 2028, with a significant portion allocated for export to regional and international markets.
Boosting Local Manufacturing and Exports
Engineer Mahmoud Haroun, Chairman of the Board of Delmar Industrial Group, emphasized that this partnership is part of the group's strategy to expand into advanced automotive component manufacturing and support the state's efforts to deepen local production. He noted that the project will create new job opportunities, facilitate technology transfer, and enhance Egyptian exports of automotive components, thereby strengthening the national economy and reducing the import bill.
