El Arab El Sewedy Group has officially secured the exclusive distribution rights for the Chinese automotive brands OMODA and JAECOO in the Egyptian market, following negotiations that spanned more than three years with the parent company. The announcement comes after intense competition with five major local companies, all vying for the prestigious dealership agreement.

Negotiation Details and Selection Criteria

According to informed sources, the selection of El Arab El Sewedy Group was not coincidental but resulted from the strength of the proposal submitted to the parent company. The file included several key factors, most notably the group's ownership of industrial facilities capable of supporting local production plans, along with strong financial solvency enabling the execution of marketing programs and expansion and investment strategies, particularly regarding localization of manufacturing within the Egyptian market.

The group's proposal also included an additional competitive advantage: obtaining accreditation from the global WorkL institution as one of the best work environments in Egypt. This certification is a rare achievement, as only three companies operating in the automotive sector in the local market hold it, further strengthening the group's chances of winning the dealership.

Ambitious Investment Vision

The sources indicated that the Chinese side received numerous offers over the past three years from automotive companies operating in Egypt and held a series of meetings with many entities interested in collaborating to market and sell OMODA and JAECOO vehicles. However, the proposal submitted by El Arab El Sewedy Group was the closest to the parent company's aspirations in terms of investment vision, manufacturing plans, and future expansion.

Earlier reports had revealed the imminent entry of the OMODA & JAECOO brand into the Egyptian market through a local agent responsible for import, distribution, and after-sales service, as part of the brand's strategy to strengthen its presence in the Middle East region.

About the Two Chinese Brands

OMODA and JAECOO are brands under the umbrella of the Chinese giant Chery Group, officially launched in 2022. The two brands focus on producing both conventional and electric vehicles, with ambitious expansion plans aimed at increasing their presence in global markets, especially emerging markets with high growth rates like Egypt. This move comes at a time when the local market is witnessing increasing demand for Chinese cars, particularly electric and hybrid models.
